SCION’s Demo Day Marks a Defining Step for Regional Nature-Tech

SCION’s first Accelerator Demo Day in Bucharest marked a defining moment for the emerging NatureTech ecosystem in Bulgaria and Romania. It was not simply the close of a 10-week programme, but rather a public demonstration that the region has the scientific depth, entrepreneurial ambition and environmental urgency needed to build globally relevant solutions.

Accelerator Outcomes: From Potential to Investable Innovation

The SCION Accelerator, powered by Rezolv Energy’s RezolvShift programme, was created to bridge a critical gap: connecting scientific discovery and practical deployment at a time when ecosystems, agriculture, and energy systems urgently need innovation.

Over ten weeks, founders worked with mentors, investors and industry practitioners on everything from product development and customer strategy to capital raising and regulatory insight. Demo Day made this work visible; ten teams (6 from Bulgaria and 4 from Romania) presented solutions spanning environmental monitoring, regenerative agriculture, circular energy systems and climate resilience.

The jury awarded:
1st place: Nomadium Robotics
2nd place: Proon-Tech
3rd place: Solmag
AI Award: Alt.Real

But the real achievement went beyond the winners. SCION’s Demo Day proved that the region is becoming a connected NatureTech community rather than a group of isolated initiatives.

A Fireside Chat Setting the Larger Frame

A conversation between SCION co-founder Kamen Slavov and Rezolv Energy CSO Jennifer Boca highlighted why this moment matters. They reflected on the region’s strong digital talent, scientific continuity and increasing cross-border integration, and why these ingredients position CEE to lead in nature and climate innovation.

Their central message:
The transition cannot happen “inside the fence”. Innovation must work with communities, land, policy and people, and platforms like SCION and RezolvShift exist to enable that integration.

Why SCION’S Demo Day Matters for the Region

For Bulgaria and Romania, which areoften overlooked on Europe’s innovation map,  SCION’S Demo Day offered a clear demonstration of what is taking shape:

  • a region capable of producing serious, investable DeepTech ventures;

  • a NatureTech ecosystem gaining structure rather than relying on enthusiasm alone;

  • a growing alignment between science, entrepreneurship and policy;

  • and partners like Rezolv Energy willing to commit to long-term ecosystem development.

What Comes Next

SCION’s Demo Day closes the first cycle, but the work expands from here.
SCION continues to support the cohort as they enter pilots, partnerships and investor conversations, while preparing to open applications for our second  SCION Accelerator cohort in early 2026.

The momentum is real. The region is shifting. And SCION will remain its ecosystem architect, aiming to turn scientific potential into solutions that restore ecosystems, support communities and build a nature-positive economy.
