SCION Launches to Power the Future of Nature Tech

First flagship initiative: SCION Accelerator, in partnership with Rezolv Energy Shift, to fast-track Clean & Nature Tech across Bulgaria and Romania

Nature has always been the foundation of life. It has shaped civilizations, fueled discoveries, and sustained generations. Yet today, we face the greatest disconnection between human progress and the natural world in history.

SCION launches to restore that connection - and to reinvent how we innovate alongside nature, not against it.

At its core, SCION is more than a platform. It’s a new kind of ecosystem actor: one that unites science, entrepreneurship, and conservation to scale Nature Tech solutions for a regenerative economy. And it starts with a community - a tribe of founders, scientists, conservationists, and corporations working at the frontier of innovation and ecological restoration.

Why now?

In 2024, global VC funding in Nature Tech startups grew by 16%, from $1.84B to $2.13B. The momentum is clear - but the funding remains uneven. Central and Eastern Europe, home to some of the planet’s richest biodiversity and most urgent transition needs, is still underrepresented.

This is where SCION steps in. The mission: to make Nature Tech not only visible, but investable. Not only inspiring, but scalable.

A team rooted in experience

SCION is founded by a team that has spent decades building bridges between innovation, investment, and impact.

Sasha Bezuhanova brings a 20-year executive career at HP, where she led digital transformation across global markets. She is the founder of MOVE.BG, the civil platform for sustainable innovation in Bulgaria, and serves as Chair of WWF CEE. She is also an advisor to the Green Tech Alliance and a judge for the European Innovation Council. As an angel investor, Sasha backed climate and nature tech startups like Plan A, LAM’ON, and Cupffee early - companies that have since raised over €40 million.

“This is a space I care deeply about because nature is not an industry sector, it’s the foundation of the world we live in. And our region has the talent, the urgency, and the legacy to lead in building the nature-positive economy.” - Sasha Bezuhanova

Kamen Slavov is a financial architect for sustainable systems. As Managing Director of Bulgaria’s €1.3B Fund of Funds, he played a key role in implementing financial instruments that supported VC funds, municipal infrastructure, and SME lending. With prior experience at KPMG Corporate Finance, his track record spans public capital and private diligence alike.

Mirella Yordanova brings hands-on venture-building experience from leading European funds. At LAUNCHub Ventures, she helped post-investment teams grow. At Seedcamp, one of Europe’s most active funds with four unicorns in its portfolio, she strengthened support systems across 400+ startups. At Google for Startups, she built a global founder network spanning the UK, Europe, and Asia.

Konstantina Voynova rounds out the team with investment policy and risk expertise. At the Fund of Funds, she led equity instruments and helped align early-stage innovation with long-term financing models. Her background in asset management brings rigor to sustainability investing.

Together, the team merges public capital experience, global startup know-how, scientific orientation, and institutional trust. This combination positions SCION not just to fund innovation, but to grow a trusted community around it.

From manifesto to movement

SCION believes that innovation alone isn’t enough. It must be connected. Trusted. Scaled.

The starting point is the SCION Manifesto:

We believe a new generation of technologies can regenerate ecosystems, restore balance, and create abundance without extraction.
We call this emerging frontier: Nature Tech.

Nature Tech includes technologies that rewild landscapes, monitor biodiversity, and build resilient systems - from food to energy, from climate to water. It is both a science and a system shift.

At SCION, this vision turns into action through community, venture support, and mission alignment.

Introducing SCION Accelerator

The first initiative under the SCION umbrella is the SCION Accelerator, launched in partnership with Rezolv Energy Shift, a new platform through which Rezolv Energy will invest in people and innovation to accelerate a just and inclusive energy transition in South Eastern Europe.

It’s a curated 10-week program designed to support early-stage teams in Bulgaria and Romania working at the intersection of ecology, science, and scalable technology.

SCION Accelerator backs teams developing (but not limited to):

  • Regenerative agriculture or precision farming tools that improve soil health and biodiversity

  • Carbon and biodiversity monitoring systems using AI and imaging

  • Ecosystem restoration tech from smart irrigation to reforestation platforms

  • Climate resilience solutions like nature-based flood control or drought-adaptive crops

The program combines mentorship, expert-led workshops, and access to a growing network of investors, policy actors, and field practitioners. The goal is simple: help teams move from science to solution, and from prototype to real-world impact.

Cultivating the regenerative economy

SCION is not a fund, a studio, or a policy think tank. It is something in between - and beyond.

It’s a catalyst for aligned innovation. A shared infrastructure for trust. A bet on the people bold enough to define progress by ecosystems revived, species saved, and communities strengthened.

“Together, we are not just launching the next wave of companies. We are planting the seeds of a regenerative future.”

Nature is not a constraint. It’s the blueprint.

And at SCION, we’re building what comes next.
